Each tree at Filoli has a unique history, whether that be why it was added to the garden, its origin, and/or what makes it special horticulturally.
This training is designed to share the research completed by Filoli Volunteer Susan Dunn. What began as a Fireside Chat in the Library became a wonderful presentation that was shared with fellow Filoli volunteers and staff. In the Summer of 2018 it was adapted to create the Tree Specialty Tour.
Your Instructor
Susan Dunn has been a Filoli volunteer since 2009 in both the garden and on the Library/Collections committee, giving her access to behind the scenes both outside and in the house. While on the Library/Collections committee she spent many hours helping to categorize the photo archives, maintaining the Filoli Production DVD’s, inventorying the Filoli garden sculpture collection, as well as serving as co-chair of the committee in 2013 and 2014. She also was a member of the group who collected and dried flowers from the garden to decorate the first dried flower tree that greeted visitors in the foyer for Holidays at Filoli in 2017. Her favorite Filoli event is fall fruit tasting.
